Description

Emerald Surf II

Framed original oil on paper: Width 43cm Height 43cm or 17ins x 17ins. Signed. Comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Emerald Surf II is inspired by the South Devon Coastline. I want to make the viewer feel they are in the middle of a wave. Perhaps a wipeout with churning surf.

I like to visit the beaches of Cornwall and North Devon and watch and sketch the surfers there.  A particular favourite beach of mine is Perranporth which has a large sandy beach and is well known for its surf.

As a Teignmouth based artist I am close to the south west coast.

I like to work in oils because of their versatility. You can layer the paint so that it has a translucency. Also It is so robust a medium I can scrape the paint back or scratch into it too.

I am a member of the Devon Artist Network and an Ambassador Artist for the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark.
